Chartered as a national community development focused bank, Native American Bank is also a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The Company has over $129 million in assets and operates nationally.
In 2001, 20 Tribal Nations and Alaskan Native Corporations set out with a dream “to create a national bank to serve all Native people, communities, governments and enterprises across the country” and established Native American Bank, N.A. (NAB). As of January 2020, NAB has 35 shareholders.
NAB recognizes that among the many issues facing Native Americans, the absence of access to financial capital and services has been a significant impediment towards the realization of self-sufficiency and financial freedom across Indian Country.
NAB is committed to being a self-sustaining CDFI and is the only nationally Indian-owned community development bank in the country.
